By opening up the downstairs space, the kitchen and living areas now flow seamlessly together — a modern transformation that contrasts beautifully with the character of the original home.

At the heart of the design is a true handleless kitchen, where clean lines and minimal detailing create a calm, clutter-free feel. In striking contrast to the exposed granite walls, an 80mm-profile concrete-look worktop wraps elegantly around the island and sink run. High-capacity drawers — built to hold up to 60 kg — offer generous and accessible storage beneath the ovens, within the tall larder, and across the island. "It was a pleasure to work with Jono and the team at 'Now' for our kitchen project. From the beginning Jono appreciated our aim to mix a modern kitchen in an old house. He spent considerable time with us to make sure the design was just right- it’s quite a restrictive space and we wanted lots of surface space and storage with enough room to move about freely. We worked through countless iterations of the design with his computer software until we got it just right.

The Neff appliances he recommended have worked faultlessly since installation and are just the right size. He sourced an Italian extractor when it was clear the usual choices weren’t quite right for us. The Quooker boiling water tap allows more space without a kettle and is very practical complimenting our huge sink.

We spent a long time choosing the work surfaces and the complex installation took several days. Duke Stone who supplied and installed the worktops, were fantastic and very precise. We’re delighted with the final result. We wanted super modern dark units and Jono guided us to just the right choice of a very dark moody blue. The storage is fantastic, with deep drawers that are generous and functional.

18 months on everything still works well, the units have stood up to heavy use and still look good. The design has proved to be practical and has transformed kitchen life. It's a pleasure to be in the room now, My favourite spot in the house is sat at the island breakfast bar looking out of the window or using my laptop!

From the beginning Jono & Now Kitchens were professional, responsive and helpful. Despite undertaking the project in the middle of a pandemic, all went smoothly and we’re very happy indeed with our transformation and Jono’s expertise in getting us there."
